Better Time Management for the Work-at-Home Mom

No, work-at-home #moms don’t have it easy.  Just because they work at #home doesn’t mean their #job is any easier than yours.  On top of buying #groceries, #preparing #meals, #washing the #dishes, taking the #kids to #school, paying the bills, and all other #motherly functions, a work at home #mom has to set aside #time for #work.  This isn’t an easy feat, and it’s good to know there are better time management tips for all the WAHMS (Work At Home Moms) out there.

This can never be stressed enough – #prioritize.  Before you can be #time #efficient, you have to know what’s more #important so you can #devote more time for it.  You must know how to set #priorities; and you must have the #conviction to live by it.

Be headstrong – A day in a #WAHM’s life is not easy, and one could easily #experience #physical, #emotional and #mental #stress.  Clear yourself from any baggage and #learn to separate work from #family life. Be #disciplined and stick to your #schedule even when you don’t feel like it.  When you find yourself getting into the swing of things, don’t break your #momentum by stopping the #project and picking it up later.

Focus – Although many would #advise you to #multitask, the best way to go about your duties would be to #focus first on the more #important concerns instead of the urgent ones.

Use time blocks – Set a time block according to the amount of time and time of day you function more #effectively.  For example, if you work best during nighttime, block your everyday #activities like spending time with the #kids, or #planning #meals during the #daytime, and block your #evenings for #work.  You can also #save more time by #blocking a specific day of the week to do all your #groceries to save you from making quick daily trips to the #market.  Also, it helps to learn more about the “cook once, eat twice” #technique.

Delegate – Focus on the areas that you are best at, and #delegate the rest.  You may #outsource some #tasks and consider getting a virtual assistant to return #phone calls or respond to #emails.  You may also get a #babysitter. Ask your #neighbor to walk your #dog, or have your #husband or #friend pick up your kids at #school.

These are just some tips for better time management for work at home moms.
